But your BENSON'S CAPCINE POROUS PLASTER has broken through the barriers and won it way to my good opinion. My attention war first called to it some eight months ago by a patient of mine Although I was well ac quainted with tho superior excellence of your other plaster and antiseptic dressing, mado especially for tho profession, the Benson's was comparatively now to me. I had heard, however, of its merits as a remedy, in cases of Lamo Back, Local Rhoumatism, Neural gia. Congostion of tho Bronchial Tubes and Lungs. Dyspepsia, Torpid Liver and tho like afibctions, and have since begun to experi ment with it personally. I find BENSON'S CAPCINE PLASTER an exceptionally clean ly plaster to uso. and rapid in its action. Many tests of its qualities, made in my own family and among my patients have convinc ed me that there is no single article so valu able for popular use, nor so helpful in the diseases I have named. OBEGON "Youns Man, Be Serious." Senator Tom Corwin had a wonder ful senso of humor, and many of his jests havo gone into history. His power of making people laugh he de precated as his rrcatesfc enemy, and shortly beforo he died he said he' feared "men would remember him on- j ly as a jester." His remarks upon this subject were humorous, and there is hardly an old friend of Corwin who cannot reneat one or more of them. Once, it is said, a young man asked j him how ho should act to become j iiKe uorwm. Mr. uorwin repueu:i "Young man, bo serious. If I had , been serious I might have been pros- ident, but now I am nothing but ' Corwin." j At ahother time, after a remarkably J humorous speech, in which ho had kept the audience for hours in shouts ' of laughter, he was noticed sitting in his room musing, with a very sad ex pression on his wonderfully mobile ' face. Being asked for his thought,' be replied: "The world will always i honor the teacher and despise the! clown. Would to God I had never . cracked a joke; but now every one expects me to bo funny and I am . forced to do so." ! Tom Corwin died with a joke on his lips. The story has been told be j fore, but it is long forgotten. He had just returned from Mexico, whore J irresiaenr j-iincoin nau sent mm ib United States Minister, and he was giving his views of tho country to a crowd who had gathered round. Ho was especially addressing his remarks to an old friend, and a lull had oc curred in the conversation. At this he turned to this friend, whose hair had grown remarkably thin within a few years, and said: "I am sorry, Major, to eco that yon aro growing bald." "Yes," replied tho major, "but that does not matter. You know Ca;sar was bald." "As for that," returned Corwin, "Cassar had fits." Whilo tho crowd were laughing at this retort, Mr. Cor win was struck with paralysis, and a short time after this ho died. Boston Herald.
