He comes nearest it the day lie leaves school; and all that year he hovers around it in pleasant proximity. Sometimes I think he qnitc attains it on commencement dav. But a year away from school, ho and his ideal part company. He sees it drifting farther away from his eager hands. I have, in my own brilliant and ag gressive career, pursued several fleet ing and more or less nerfect ideals. From where I now stand, at the dis tance pole, I can see the majority of them scooting under the wire, and I feel that I am shut out. One, I can see, is yet in nearer sight, and I am very loth to see it get entirely away from me. I have my ideal of physical perfec tion in tLe aged. This is the manner of old man 1 want to be. I am not a tall man now. J do not really have to stand up to look over the back of a car seat. I stand up merely because I can see farther. But as I grow old I waut to tat up. I want to develop a capacious bay window, so that when my summer vest is hanging on the line it will look like a schooner com ing down "wing and wing." Then I can wear my watch in my fob, with a greaj big seal dangling from it like a bell clapper. I want to be short in the breath and wheeze when I climb up stairs, and puiT and pant when I walk up hill, and have to take two step3 to cros3 the gutter. And I would wear a clawhammer coat, with wide lapels, all the time, and carry my handkerchief in my hat. I would like my hair to turn snow white or else fall off, I am not very particular which. I would like my mustache to bleach out until it looked like a streak of flour across my lip. I be lieve this is all I think that is a photograph of the kind of an old man I -would like to be. This is my ideal old man. Cane and wheezy laugh, of course. And I am just as confident as I am that I will die rich; that, as I grow old, I will shrivel up and dry out until I look like a shoestring with clothes on. Brooklyn Eagle. Drowning Accidtnt. About seven o'clock Monday even ing, some children were playing on Gray's dock, close by where a board has been cut in the dock to allow offal to bo dropped through. One of the little ones, a girl four years of age, a daughter of Mr. Hendrickson, who lives near the dock, was standing by this trap, and it, tilting in some way, the little girl fell through. Though there were half a dozen men standing or working close by no ono heard or noticed anything unusual, and not for half an hour afterwards did it transpire that the poor little child had lost its life. Yesterday morning search was mado for the body, but unsuccessfully. Should it be found by any one," CapL Gray wishes to have it sent to him that it may bo given burial. "For ten years past," said the new boarder, "my habits have been regu lar as clockwork. I rose on the stroke of 6; half an hour later I sat down to breakfast; at 7 1 was at work, dined at 12, ate supper at 6, and wfis in bed at 930, ate only hearty food, and hadn't a sick day in till that time." "Dear me," said the deacon in sympathetic tones, "and what were you in for?" And in the awful silence that followed yon could hear the hash grate its teeth. J Messts. Sea burt & Jousson, Gentlemen: Like most of my profession, I am cautious about pinning my faith to any now medicino or curative ogent. But your BENSON'S CAPCINE POROUS PLASTER has broken through tho barriers and won its way to my good opinion. My attention was first called to itsomo eight months ago by a patient of mine Although I was well ac quainted with tho superior excellence of your other plaster and antiseptic dressing, mado especially for tho profession, tho Benson's was comparatively noiv to mo. I had heard, hotvover, of its merits as a remedy, in casc3 of Lame Back, Local Rboumatism, Neural gia. Congestion of tho Bronchial Tubes and Lungs. Dyspepsia, Torpid Livor and tho like affections, and havo since begun to experi ment with it personally. I find BENSON'S CAPCINE PLASTER an exceptionally clean ly plaster to uso, and rapid in its action. Many tests of its qualities, mado in my own family and among my patients havo convinc ed mo that thero is no singlo articlo so valu able for popular uso, nor so helpful in the diseases I havo named. Should you desire to do so, you may uso my name to that effect Very truly youra, II.n.KANE,A.M.,M,D. Tho genuino havo tho word CAPCINE cut in tho center. Prico 25 cents.
