y) glxe Jntfxj JVstorimx. ASTORIA. OREGON: "WEDXE 5 1 ' Y... FE BHU AKY 7, 1SS3 Introducing You to Oleomarganno. Now. no p.-aon "with a keen sense of taste can be h'coived about oleomargarine. Butter is punr oil. Put a little in a warm place, and see how quickly i liquefies. If the temperature comes close to boiling, the butter is "oiled. and unfit for food. Try the same experiment with oleo margarine. It will not harm it, and- you will hnd it difllcult to melt it if you drop it in boiling water. It will dissolve like tallow not like butter. It also cuts like tallow, with a sort of metallic glint. Oleomargarine, if "flavored with true butter and made into "prints," always keeps the print in the original clear lines. You can handle it without crushing it. It seem? :i if it had just come off ice. The first time I ever found it on a table 1 thought it the handsom est butter I had ever seen. It was at the United States Hotel in Sar atoga, where board was 5 a day. I tasted it, could not swallow it. In two hours my mouth was sore, poisoned by pyemic germs in this pretty butter! 1 did not connect the two things, and continued every morning to touch the butter to my tongue, in the vain hope of finding something eatable. After five or six days a well-known mem ber of the Boston Board of Trade paused beside my table and said, ".Mrs. JJalt, I hope you arc not try-1 mg to eat that poison i And then I discovered what the sub stance was. The sore mouth con tinued for four months! I ought to add that oleomargarine is gritty, though the grit is very fine, and it will not cream smooth with sugar or without, like true butter.. Bon Ion Transcript. The Norfolk Virginian lately mentioned among other cases, that of a prominent druggist of War renton, N. C, who on a business trip to Norfolk, severely injured himself by falling on the ice. By advice he used St. Jacobs Oil with such happy result, that he went on his way cured and rejoicing.
