The only difference is that the 1875 lritid has not quite come up to its bright and early promise. The frosts of November since have rather wilted the crop. Geo. Stoncmait is a tidal wave gov ernor of California now. In 1S75 a tidal wave had made an Inde pendent, Newton Booth, governor of California. Mr. Booth is to-day a respected citizen. "We trust Governor Stonctnan will be, seven years ahead. J f Governor Waller of Connecticut will consult with Charles R. Ingersoil, Esq., of New Haven, he can get valuable points as to the way it feels to be a tidal wave governor soven years after date, and the influence and pros pects of the same. Indiana had then for a governor Tho. A. Hen dricks, not so much of a tidal wave kind as a brand plucked from the burning of 1S7. Mr. Hendricks is, we believe, still piac- tising law. Massachusetts had a tidal wave governor, however, of the genuine none-gonuine-without-lhe - trade - mark brand. Does anybody know where Mr. Gaston is now? In Oregon accident had made Lafayette F. G rover governor, and in Ohio William Allen; but the accident that some day befalls each is all that loft to remind men that one of these men was once a presidential possibility. Pliiht. Press. Frank O. Butlcrfield, Clerk Am erican House, Lowell, Mass , says he was cured of a stubborn attack of rheumatism by the use if St Jacobs Oil. COMMERCEAHD TRADE. PORT OF ASTORIA. UKADY FOR SF.A.
