3 CH) I) gtxe ailH st0fcw. ASTORIA. OREGON: SUNDAY DECEMBER 17, 1882 An Electric Storm in Pike's Peak. The visitors' register at the Pike's Peak station is a curiosity in its way. A rush of blood to the liead, causing lightness and headache, and extreme nervous ness, are the most common sensa tions experienced by tourists. From both of these disorders the register suffers. The sentiments vary from the sublimest ut terances of the Holy Scriptures and Milton, to the commonest kind of western slang. Page after page bring together such as these: "Glory to God in the. highest," and, "Well, I've climbed Pike's Peak, and I'll never do it again, you bet;" "Let all Thy works praise Thee, O God," and, and "I'm seventy-six years old, and have clum up 14,147 feet; how is that fo r high?" Man7 who have strong lungs re main purposely over night to wit ness the electric and stellar sights, -iwhich are sometimes very fine. One night last summer an electric storm came on which, from the de scription given by Officer Leitzell, must have been grand. For two days previously thunder storms had been rolling among the moun tains, and then for two hours every thing was tipped and covered with electricity. Spanish pack mules, left on the summit for the night, appeared to be all on fire; the clothes of the men seemed to be ablaze; electricity streamed from the tips of the fingers, from the nose and from hair. The ane mometer on top of the building spat fire at every revolution. Every rock on the summit was covered with flame. The hugest surprise in store for your rheumatism is a rub with St. Jacobs Oil. Brown's Iron Bitters is one of the very few tonic medicines that are not com posed mostly of alcohol or whiskey, thus becoming a fruitful source of intemper ance by promoting a desire for rum. Brown's Iron Bitters is guaranteed to be a non intoxicating stimulant, and it will, in nearly every case, take the place of all liquor, and at the same time abso lutely kill the desire for whiskey and other intoxi cating beverages. Rev. G.W. Rice, editor ol &oAvierican Christian Re view, says of Brown's Iron Bitters: Cin.,0.,Nov. i6,lSSi. Gents: The foolish wast ing of vital force in business, pleasure, and vicious indul gence of our people, makes your preparation a necessity; and if" applied, will save hun dreds who resort to saloons for temporary recuperation. Brown's Iron Bitters has been thoroughly tested for dyspepsia, indigestion, biliousness, weakness, debil ity, overwork, rheumatism, neuralgia, consumption, liver complaints, kidney troubles, &c, and it never fails lo render speedy and permanent relief!
