A petition from propeity owuers on Cedar stret-t, asking that sundry improvements be' made, was referred to proper committee. ReportH of various committees re ceived and filed. The matter of building a pest house was, after some discussion, referred to the committee ou health and police. It was moved and seconded that tho city council be resolved into a com mittee of the whole on cemeteries, aud proceed to Clatsop plains nest J Ion day, tho 1st prox, to select a site for a new cemetery. On motion the rules were suspended for the purpose of taking up busi ness, from the first reading of ordi nances, and proceeding therefrom.
