order. ,T. H. D. Gray was elected
permanent chairman, and W. E. De
ment secretary; three gentlemen were
appointed committee ui) credentials,
and some pertinent remarks v,ere
mide in reference to sirae recognition
of local demands in the resolutions to
be adopted. A committee r.n resolu
tions was appointed, which reported

acting President of the United States,
so much in opposition to the well
known views of the Republican ad

ha3 over shown itself to be tho friend
and protector of tho industrial inter
ests of tho nstion, and the trusty ad
vocate of tho working class. And,
Resolved, Th.it the said veto meets
with our unqualified disapproval, bo
ing in direct opposition to the policy
of thoRepuWievn party on this coast,
and wo denounco it as unwise, and
condemn the policy which prompted it.
And,
Resulted, That wo hereby express
I our most sincere commendation to all
the represantatives from the Pacific
coast, and especially to our cnurjotic

for their untiring advocacy of the
anti-Chinesa hill.
