The lives in Muchias, Me., a man named John Pluses, who is now in his ninety-eighth year, and who is hale ami hearty, working every day, Sundays excepted. Sixteen years ago his e3eight became re newed, and is now as good as when he was younir. He has lately had four new natural teeth come in place of those lost many years ago. He attends ever'- town meeting, having voted at every presidential election from Washington to Hayes. He is a pensioner of the war of 1812. He reared a family of sixteen children eight boys and eight girls all living to be men and women. Two of his sons reside in Aroostook county, one in Houltou and one in Manleton. Five thousand just received. The Seattle daily Post learns that P. S. Wood of Green river last week dis covered while clearing land on hi.s farm the remains of a large bear, and lying within ten or fifteen feet away the bones of a human being. The bear appeared to have dug out quite a hole in the ground where its bones lay. Appear ances indicated that a struggle had taken place between the animal and liunian ueing; although so long had they lam there that nothing positive coiud he learned. No kind of arms were found. Mr. Wood says that along Green river are stilt some excellent larming lands parts of which can be easily clear ed. Within the past eighteen months he has cleared and has now ready fur cull -vation seventeen acres, besides budding two dwelling houses and doing a great deal of other work. The soil m that section is deep loam, and rich as could be desired. The Bolivian consul at New York has received advices from La Paz, Bolivia, which state that the famine prevailing in that district is appalling beyond description, people are dying in the streets and squares; corn is selling at $100 a bushel, and wheat at 850. There have fallen beneficial rains lately, but as the planted crop is scarce the future is very dark. He adds: "Any enterprising shippers thit might speedly place a cargo of wheat for seed, from Canada, which is good, would make a fortune by of fering it for sale here now.
