A Blessing During A Difficult Time Unfortunately, my husband, Jim (aka Buck), wasn’t feeling well. As a result, I took him to PeaceHealth PeaceHarbor’s ER on Sunday, July 11. He was quickly taken into an ER room where Andrew, the RN, made him as comfortable as possible. Fortunately, Dr. Graham was on duty that night. Dr. Graham suspected im- mediately what was happening to my hubby! He ran several tests and kept us informed throughout the evening. Unfortunately, Buck had to be ad- mitted into the hospital. Dr. Graham and Andrew were so kind and attentive throughout the evening. Thank you for your quick response to my husband! We appreciate you both very much. Once in the hospital, Buck and I both were taken care of extremely well! For example, every time someone came in to check on Buck, they asked me if I needed anything as well. Carrie, the RN, went out of her way to help Buck make better soda choices! And her positive attitude was much ap- preciated. Libby, the CNA, turned a bad situa- tion into such a warm and loving envi- ronment. Her kindness will always be remembered. Also, Vickie, Kelly and Cassie were al- ways kind and attentive as well. We know it’s your job. However, the level of care, thoughtfulness, and kind gestures meant the world to us. You were all such a blessing to us during a very difficult time. We feel truly blessed to have such kind and knowledgeable staff at our little rural hospital. We can’t thank you enough! — Karen Buckmaster Florence An Event from the Heart As we come out of COVID, it is good to have fun things to look forward to — like the Art From the Heart Walk that Peace Harbor Medical Foundation has organized. It has been great to help plan the art walk. It will kickoff at the heart sculpture on Bay Street on Friday night, July 23, in Historic Old Town Florence at 5 p.m. There, folks can pick up their passports and maps of participating businesses. The art walk will be a chance to see old friends and be out and about. Lo- cal galleries and businesses will display auction art and some will offer nibbles and beverages along the way. Participants will make their way around Bay Street during the 5 to 8 p.m. event to get their passport stamped and then deposit it at the Siuslaw News, 148 Maple St., in a drawing for a chance to win a photo shoot with local photogra- pher Rodger Bennett. The planning team is so appreciative of Rodger’s generous donation. The purpose of the Art From the Heart Walk will be to draw attention to the cardiac services available at Peace- Health Peace Harbor Medical Center and also to also highlight the virtual art auction beginning that night at 5 p.m. The auction will run for 10 days. Once participants are registered for the auc- tion, they will receive updates on items on which they have placed a bid. The link for the auction site is peacehealth. org/artfromtheheartwalk. Everyone is encouraged to register now so they can look at the 50-plus items available for bid. Funds raised from the auction will be used for services in the cardiac unit and also to fund diagnostic machines need- ed to alleviate the drive to Eugene.
