Spirit of the Siuslaw Award
nominations now open
Siuslaw
Watershed
Council is seeking nomi-
nations for an individual,
group or organization to
receive its highest honor,
the Spirit of the Siuslaw
Award.
Annually, an individu-
al, group or organization
who especially exempli-
fies work on watershed
health and involving hu-
man and natural resourc-
es within our region is
chosen by the Siuslaw
Watershed Council Board
of Directors for this
award. This award will be
presented at the council’s
July 2021 public General
Meeting via Zoom.
The community is in-
vited to submit nomina-
tions by emailing water-
shed@siuslaw.org by June
30, 2021.
People should include
contact information and
the contact information
for their nominee.

Florence Senior Center, 1570 Kingwood St.
The Florence Senior Cen-
ter will reopen on Monday,
June 7, at 9 a.m. The center’s
hours of operations will be
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mon-
day through Friday.
The Senior Center, 1570
Kingwood St., will be of-
fering activities including
yoga, line dancing, billiards,
cribbage and chair exercis-
es. There will be BINGO
games beginning June 10 at
10 a.m.
Masking and social dis-
tancing will remain in effect
until further guidance from
Oregon Health Authority is
received.
In addition, rental spaces
are available evenings and
weekends. As conditions
improve, the center will re-
start its lunch program.
All ages are welcome and
encouraged to participate
in Florence Senior Center
activities.

community theater Last
Resort Players is proud to
announce the cast for its
production of Eve Ensler’s
“The Vagina Monologues.”
Men and women around
the world have been
moved by the joy, the
force, the honesty, the po-
etry, and the humor of this
Obie award winning play.
The local cast includes
Mary Conley, Denise Di-
amond, Ginny Kelly, Nora
Kent, Beth Kilmurray, Erin

Instructor brings ‘Art of Play’ to classes at FRAA
The Florence Regional
Arts Alliance (FRAA) will
host Lynn Underwood,
who will be teaching “The
Art of Play.”
The class will be on each
first and third Monday of
the month from 1 to 3 p.m.
The first two classes are
June 7 and June 21.
In this mixed media
workshop,
participants
will explore acrylic paints,
stamps, collage, various
media and more.
All skill levels are wel-
come, and each class will
explore a different creative
process. The community is
invited to join the fun!
Cost is $35 for FRAA
members and $40 for
non-members, which will
cover the cost of materials
and instruction.

quired so the instructor

opening of the first bulk
bottle and can redemption
location in Florence with a
ribbon-cutting event that
included Rep. Boomer
Wright.
This new BottleDrop
network drop location
will allow areas residents
to participate in the very
popular Green Bag pro-
gram and will open up
new fundraising opportu-
nities for local nonprof-
its through the Blue Bag
program. The BottleDrop
network drop location will
make it fast and easy for
Central Coast residents to
return, redeem and recycle
redeemable beverage con-
tainers in special 13-gallon

which can be purchased

Meyer store.
Customers can also sign
up for a BottleDrop ac-
count at the store kiosk,
and print bag tag labels
with QR codes linking the
bags to their accounts.
Then they simply tag
their bags, fill them with
empty Oregon 10-cent re-
fund containers, and drop
them off at the new Bottle-
Drop network drop loca-
tion. Their containers are
counted and credited to
their accounts within sev-
en days.
BottleDrop is operated
by the Oregon Beverage
Recycling
Cooperative
(OBRC), which intro-
duced the Green Bag pro-
gram in 2010.

3 Give Customers Options- We will pick up and deliver your vehicle to your home. You may also drop
your key in our secure mailbox for drop-off s to avoid or minimize contact.
4 Employee Illness is Serious- We are encouraging employees
not to shake hands. We are practicing “personal distancing” and
encouraging employees to stay home if they feel under the weather.
5 Wipe Down High Touch Points- We wipe/spray counters, credit
card machines, door handles, phone handles, kitchen areas, and
chair arms and tables in waiting area multiple times a day.
