2A | WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13, 2021 | SIUSLAW NEWS On The Record OBITUARY YELLE—Bruce Aden Yelle was born May 9, 1953 in Woodland, Calif., and died Dec. 24, 2020, at his home in Florence, Ore., at the age of 67, while u n d e r hospice Bruce Yelle care for pancreat- ic cancer. Bruce’s family moved to Dixon, Calif., outside Sacramento, when he was one year old. He attended Dixon schools until his senior year, when he was recruit- ed to play quarterback for Sparks High School in Nevada. After graduating in 1971, Bruce attend- ed college for one year at Fresno State University. As a young adult, Bruce worked at a variety of jobs around the Sacramento region. In 1984, Bruce established Ambassador Limousine, the first lim- ousine service in the Da- vis-Dixon area. Bruce had fond mem- ories of chauffeuring a number of visiting ce- lebrities including Bob Hope, B.B. King, Huey Lewis and Brian Wilson. After selling his busi- ness, Bruce was hired as an Engineering Techni- cian for Kleinfelder where he worked for 23 years; he was known for his hard work, can-do attitude and ability to work effectively with laborers, contrac- tors, engineers and clients alike. In 2013, Bruce retired to Florence, where he en- joyed hiking, kayaking, boating and taking driv- ing tours of the surround- ing areas. He was an active member of the Florence Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Toastmasters, as a volunteer at KXCR radio, Florence Free Lunch and Health Care for All Oregon. In 2018, Bruce found- ed the nonprofit orga- nization End Choices to educate and advocate for the expansion of Oregon’s Death with Dignity law. His efforts were fol- lowed through his website and Facebook pages by individuals living in the POLICE REPORT DEATH BY SUICIDE On Feb. 27, 2020, Flor- ence Police was contacted by Adult and Protective Services (APS) regard- ing a possible Theft and Criminal Mistreatment. The suspect was iden- tified as Bret Feingold and the alleged offense concerned the unautho- rized withdraw and use of funds of an elderly male that Feingold was caring for and had a friendship with. Officers conducted the investigation and worked with the Department of Justice’s financial fraud investigators. On Nov. 18, 2020, Bret Feingold was arrested (cited and released) for Aggravated Theft I and Criminal Mistreatment I. Feingold was due in Lane County Circuit Court for arraignment on those charges on Jan. 6, 2021. That same day at 12:45 p.m., Florence Police re- ceived a report of a gun- COUNTY COVID STATS shot victim at the Flor- ence Business Center, 1525 12th St. Upon arrival and after investigation, it was de- termined that Bret Fein- gold was deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Over the past few months, we have ex- perienced community members upset that the City did not see and/or respond to social media reports related to storm damage, smoke concerns over fires, theft, or crimi- nal activity that had been shared in private and/or public community groups. While we may see items and they may be sent to City staff, the City and the Police Department do not have staff who moni- tor private and/or public community groups. The City urges community members to contact the City with any concerns or need to report an issue to a City department. Lane County Public Health (LCPH) was no- tified of at least 101 ad- ditional positive cases of COVID-19. This makes a total of 7,879 cases as of Jan. 11.
