2A | SATURDAY, JULY 18, 2020 | SIUSLAW NEWS On The Record Rods n Rhodies cancelled The non-profit Rods N Rhodies, Inc. has an- nounced that the 2020 Rods N Rhodies Car Show and Benefit has been canceled for 2020. The next show will be held Sept. 10-11, 2021. This decision was not taken lightly, according to organizers, and was only made after much de- liberation. In a statement, the Rods N Rhodies Inc./ Transportation Solutions Board of Directors said it felt that the safety of vol- unteers, visitors and the community is of the ut- most importance. The board is already planning for the 2021 Rods N Rhodies Car Show and Benefit. Cases (confirmed and presumptive): • Hospitalized: 3 • Deaths: 3 •Infectious: 46 At least 31,316 tests have been administered Chamber re-opens Florence Visitor’s Center The Florence Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the reopening of the Florence Visitor Cen- ter, 290 Highway 101, with limited hours. Schedules will vary de- pending on the availability of willing volunteers. The center is open most Mondays through Satur- days, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The reopened visitor center will require that peo- ple follow state guidelines. Masks are required for all who enter, plexiglass shields are in place between volun- teers and guests, greeters direct guests to informa- tion but won’t hand them anything, there is a strict “if you touch it, take it” rule about brochures, public restrooms are closed, and signs welcome guests while encouraging patience. Oregon Health Authority (OHA) (As of July 16) Oregon Health Authority reported 437 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19 as of noon on July 16, bringing the state total to 13, 509.
