2A | WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22, 2020 | SIUSLAW NEWS On The Record School District food distribution route changes Beginning Monday, April 27, Siuslaw School District food service delivery routes will be condensed from 10 to 5. The food service deliv- eries will continue to serve all locations as before, so the service times at each lo- cation will change a bit. Each bus will go to 5-6 locations, rather than 2-3. This will allow the district to conserve transportation fuel, maintenance and driv- er time, while serving all sites and maintaining both a safe working environment for staff and avoiding con- LCC hosting bond measure town halls gregations of people at de- livery locations. Below is the updated routes with times and loca- tions of food delivery in the area. FOOD DELIVERY LOCATIONS & Walk Up / Pick Up Sites – Effective April 27 th To be more efficient and still continue to reach all delivery sites, bus delivery routes are being combined. If you are picking up food deliveries from a bus location, the only difference will be the time of day. Deliveries will be Monday, Wednesday & Friday at the same locations, just slightly different times. The committee will in- clude up to 11 members including three to five res- idents at-large, three mem- bers from the construction industry, and three mem- bers from the college in- cluding one faculty mem- ber, one classified staff and one student. The board also set a se- ries of virtual town halls about the bond, including Thursday, April 30, at 6 p.m.; and Saturday, May 9, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The public can submit questions for the town halls to bond@lanecc.edu and join by going online at lan- ecc.edu/bond and clicking the “Register now” link. Community Minded LCB#6718 When Congress passed the Coronavirus Aid, Re- lief, and Economic Secu- rity (CARES) Act three weeks ago, the bill included some much-needed eco- nomic support. For millions of Ameri- cans that is coming in the form of Economic Impact Payments of up to $1,200 for qualified individuals and additional dollars for households with children. The first waves of these payments are being issued to people who have direct deposit information on file with the Internal Revenue Service or Social Security Administration. Other qualified Ameri- cans will receive hard copy checks over the next sever- al months. While almost $150 bil- lion has already landed in the hands of working fam- ilies, not all eligible con- sumers have received their funds. The delay is caused by an overwhelming volume of payments for the U.S. Trea- sury to distribute, and the effective dates the Treasury set on the payments. For example, while the Trea- sury announced the first wave of payments would be deposited into accounts April 13, the effective date set was April 15. The Treasury pro- cessed another wave of payments Friday, but the funding won’t likely post to consumers’ accounts this Mon-day, because the effective date is not until April 22. The confusion between when payments are issued, vs. when the funds are ac- tually posted to consumers’ accounts is frustrating. But the good news is, the pay- ments are coming.
