2A | SATURDAY, JANUARY 19, 2020 | SIUSLAW NEWS On The Record OBITUARIES PHILLIPS—Donald L. Phil- lips, 83, of Florence, Ore., passed away Feb. 21, 2020. Don was born to Oscar and Alice Phillips in Salem, Ore. He graduated from Salem High School with the Class of ‘54. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force, his final post- ing being in Manitoba, Canada, where he met and married his wife, Carol. After his mil- itary service, Don attended Oregon Tech in Klamath Falls, earning a de- gree in Elec- tronics. He then worked as a field engineer with IBM for 10 years. He later returned to Oregon Tech and taught for more than 20 years in the CSET Depart- ment, taking time out to earn a Master’s Degree from the Uni- versity of Oregon. Don was an avid hunter and Donald Phillips fisherman throughout his life. He was an active member of the Salmon Trout Enhancement Program (STEP) group in Flor- ence, Ore., the town where he and Carol retired. Don is survived by his wife, Carol; their two daughters: Cyn- thia (Cliff) Johnson and Bren- da (Les) Percy; grandchildren Danielle and Kevin Percy; and great-grandson Jerome; Kimber- ly and Jeremiah Johnson; grand- children: Eli, Kobe, Marissa, Heidi, and baby Rarri. Drug arrest was reported on the 4700 block of High- way 101. Arrest was reported on the 2900 block of Redwood Street. Feb. 11 Arrest, with warrant, was reported on the 1700 block of Highway 126. Indecent exposure was reported on the 2900 block of Oak Street. Shots fired was reported in Mapleton. Harassment was reported on the 1700 block of 43rd Street. Feb. 12 Arrest was reported on Maple Street. Fraud was reported on the 4700 block of Highway 101. Trespass was reported on the first block of Harbor Street. Hit-and-run accident was reported on the 2000 block of Highway 101. Feb. 13 Accident, without injury, was reported on the 2900 block of Oak Street. DUII was reported on the 5300 block of Grand Avenue. Accident, without injury, was reported on 31st Street. Feb. 14 Trespass was reported on the 800 block of Kingwood Street. Theft from vehicle was reported on the 2100 block of Spruce Street. Criminal mischief was reported on the 1400 block of Bay Street. Criminal mischief was reported on the 400 block of Ninth Street. Theft was reported on the 3900 block of Spruce Street. Arrest, with warrant, was reported on the 2000 block of Highway 101. Theft was reported on the 1800 block of 37th Street.
