Friendship Club hosts card party The Siuslaw Friendship Club is hosting a card party at the Florence Senior Cen- ter, 1570 Kingwood St. It will be on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 11:30 a.m. There is a $15 fee to par- ticipate. Mapleton Branch The Mapleton library is located at 88148 Riverview Ave., in the Lion’s Club Building. With a nice view of the Siuslaw River, it’s a won- derful place to sit and enjoy a good book or read the news- paper. The library also has books, magazines, DVDs and videos, recorded books, Internet computers, wireless Internet access and more. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. Community Chorus announces Christmas Concert Dec. 14 On Saturday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m., the Community Cho- rus of Florence Oregon will present its annual Christmas Concert at the Presbyterian Church of the Siuslaw, 3996 Highway 101 in Florence. The chorus will present both traditional and non-tra- ditional Christmas music. A special performance by the Flo Tones and a harp solo by Sylvia Hartman will be extra special treats. This free concert is open to the public. Donations will be accepted to support an annual award to the Siuslaw High School vocal art pro- gram and for the support of the Community Chorus.
