The flushing program will last ap- proximately 12 weeks. Flushing the water main is a normal pre- ventive maintenance procedure to improve water quality, safety and test the system re- garding fire-flows. This program is an important part of the City of Florence’s ability to provide fire protection service and to ensure that all hy- drants on the system are in good working condition. City of Florence Public Works person- nel will be flushing the hydrants Monday through Friday be- tween 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. The water is safe to use during this flush- ing period. Some areas may experience discol- ored or cloudy water during this time, but this will only be tem- porary. The temporary discoloration of the water is an unavoid- able effect from flush- ing the water lines and has no harmful health effects. If the discoloration lasts longer than a few hours or you have any questions, contact Florence Public Works at 541-997-4106.
