RAIN presents ‘Life Lessons of an Entrepreneur’
Oregon Regional Accel-
erator and Innovation Net-
work (RAIN) invites the
Florence community to at-
tend “Life Lessons of an En-
trepreneur: A Fireside chat
with Marianne Brisbane”
on Thursday, Sept. 26, from
6:30 to 8 p.m.
The invite will be at The
Bodega, 180 Laurel St.,
Brisbane’s new wine parlor.
Join RAIN for a lovely
evening of wine and cheese
as attendees listen to the
entrepreneurial story of
long-time Florence patron,
Brisbane.
Founder of many (at least
5) of the iconic shops and
restaurants in Florence,
Brisbane recently opened
The Bodega.
“Come enjoy her new
space, hear about her life
journey, learn about her
thoughts on the Florence
entrepreneurial
ecosys-
tem and take home her
top three tips for running
a successful business,” said
RAIN Venture Catalyst
Ariel Ruben. “This is an
evening you don’t want to
miss.”
People can sign up for
the event at www.meet-
up.com/St ar tup-Flor-
ence-Oregon-Coast/
events/264629513/.

grams, and access to capital.
These free resources are
made possible by partner-
ships with The City of Flor-
ence, Lane County and the
Ford Family Foundation.

Peace Harbor to host free classes at LCC
for prospective palliative care volunteers
The PeaceHealth Peace
Harbor Medical Center Pal-
liative Care program will
host a series of free weekly
classes in October designed
to train prospective volun-
teers to work directly with
both hospice and palliative
care patients in the commu-
nity.
The first class will be on
Monday, Oct. 14, from 8:30
a.m. to noon at Lane Com-
munity College in Florence,
3149 Oak St. They’ll con-
tinue weekly on Mondays
through Nov. 25, same hours.
The classes include an
overview of hospice and pal-
liative care; the role of the
volunteer; communication
and boundaries; grief and
loss; and spirituality.
Attendance is required for
at least five of the six classes.
The classes are for personal
enrichment, with no grad-
ing.
Upon successful comple-
tion of this course, students
will have a better under-
standing of the Palliative
Care program and the abili-
ty to work one-on-one with
local Palliative Care patients.
Hospice volunteers will
need additional training.
