Three local galleries participate in Chamber exhibit More than a dozen piec- es of art, including photos, watercolors, ceramics and sculptures in metal and wood, are part of a new art display at the Florence Area Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center on display through the month of Au- gust. The chamber features a different local art exhibit each month. “The chamber is list- ed in the local Passport to the Arts art tour map be- cause of our ever-changing displays of photography, paintings or three-dimen- sional art by local artists and galleries,” said Cham- ber Executive Director Bettina Hannigan. “Art is growing in its importance for enhancing Florence’s tourism business, and that helps all businesses.” The current display of local artistry features a va- riety of works by local and Northwest artists from the Sticks and Stones, Blue Heron and Wind Drift gal- leries in Old Town. “Visitors will find a beau- tiful display and a wide variety of photography, sculpture and artwork in several mediums by lo- cally-, regionally- and na- tionally-acclaimed artists,” Hannigan added. Jack Butler, the galleries’ owner, said, “It’s exciting to be invited to participate in the chamber’s monthly exhibit. We appreciate the many ways that the cham- ber supports Florence’s growing and vibrant arts community.” The three galleries, en- tering their 30th year in Florence, are contemporary craft galleries that focus on American-made craft. “We are delighted to have a sampling from all three galleries’ collections on display at the chamber’s visitor center this month,” Butler said. “Each of our galleries offers something different. The variety found in our galleries, and the other great shops and gal- leries of Old Town, sets Florence apart from other communities where you go into a half-dozen different shops and find the same thing over and over. There is a tremendous diversity of work in our community.” Sticks and Stones Gallery is at 1368 Bay St.; the Blue Heron Gallery is at 1385 Bay St.; and Wind Drift Gallery is at 1395 Bay St., all in Historic Old Town Florence. All three can be found at oregoncoastgaller- ies.net. Butler also owns Of Land & Sea Gallery in Flor- ence as well as Breach the Moon and Oceanic Arts in Newport.
