Show hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is FREE and coin appraisals will be available. Exhibitors will display coins from the United States and around the world, including Greek and Roman coins, terri- torial gold coins, and hundreds more. For anyone who is new to coin collecting or who has never been to a major coin show before, here are a few tips: Plan to arrive early to allow plenty of time to look at all the exhibits; bring a good coin guide with prices for reference; bring a notebook to keep track of contact information for dealers that might be- come good contacts for future needs. It was like a major meeting of the minds. The result was the Florence Coin Show, which is the second longest running event at the Florence Events Center. From its humble beginnings, the Flor- ence Coin Show has grown to be one of the most respected coin shows in Ore- gon and the Pacific Northwest. In addition, numerous visiting dealers attend the show, many of whom hope to be included in the next year’s event. Over the years, many rare and in- teresting coins, tokens and stamps have been bought and sold at this show. Not only ancient to common coins of today, there have been coins like the rare 1849 Oregon $5 Beaver gold coin, the rare 1878 proof 20 cent coin to the rare $4 gold Stella’s. There is something for everyone. From 2001 to 2017, the show issued free tokens commemorating the show, which are now prized and sought-after collect- ibles. In 2014, Brower decided to retire from putting on the show and sold his interest in the show to Florence coin dealer Ter- ry Woodward, who used to put on coin shows in California and Nevada. The Florence Coin Show will be held on Aug. 17 and 18 — and who knows what treasures will be found there. For more information, contact Wood- ward at 541-997-2682.
