All Recipes • In a small bowl, stir together soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and vegetable oil until sugar is dissolved. Place fi sh in a large resealable plastic bag with the soy sauce mixture, seal, and turn to coat. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. • Preheat grill for medium heat. • Lightly oil grill grate. Place salmon on the preheated grill, and dis- card marinade. Cook salmon for 6 to 8 minutes per side, or until the fi sh fl akes easily with a fork. The peanut butter goes to help families and children during the summer months when kids are out of school. (courtesy photo) Oregon Coast Military Museum to celebrate Jeep To celebrate the birth of the iconic Jeep vehicle from WWII, the Oregon Coast Military Museum (OCMM) is hosting its third annu- al “Jeep Junction” show & shine Saturday June 15 at Johnston Motor Co., locat- ed at 2150 Highway 101. The show starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. and is open to any military jeep, vintage CJ through current model of Wrangler. “Of all the transportation advancements coming out of WWII, the legendary Jeep has probably made more impact on society because it is still being pro- duced 78 years later, and not just here in the United States but in other coun- tries around the world,” said OCMM Executive Di- rector Cal Applebee. “This show is intended to not just celebrate its creation, but also celebrate the icon that is today.” Jeep owners can register onsite the morning of the event, and the first 25 regis- trants will receive a goodie bag. The show opens to the public at 10 a.m. but partic- ipants should plan to regis- ter starting at 9 a.m. The Florence-Siuslaw Li- ons Club will have its food cart on hand. The event is sponsored by Johnston Mo- tor Company and Tony’s Garage. “One of the reasons we wanted to partner with Johnston Motor Company is that Ford Motor Compa- ny produced nearly half of the military Jeeps during WWII, and we’ll have some outstanding restored ex- amples of those on display throughout the week in their showroom and at the event.” Applebee explained. The museum is located at 2145 Kingwood Street in Florence, and open to the public Wednesday through Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m. Art, music summer camp to be held at Dragon Art Local teachers Amanda Smith and Kassy Keppol are teaming up to run the Mu- sic and Art Camp in June. Smith is the music teach- er at Siuslaw Elementary school and Keppol is the English Language teacher for the district. Keppol also owns Dragon Art, a gallery where the camp will take place. While Dragon Art will be running camps all summer, Music and Art Camp will be especially unique, with in- struction from both teach- ers. During this week-long camp, Keppol will work WEDNESDAY THURSDAY JUNE 12 JUNE 13 with students on building, crafting and creating their own instruments; Smith will work with students on how to play the instruments the kids have made. Dragon Art has held an instrument making camp before, but this year team- ing up with a musician the instruments will get more use than ever before. Music and Art Camp will be held June 24 through 28.
