Marcia Pearce will deliver a mes- sage titled: “Is God Com- ing Out to Play Yet?” This was a question Rev. Pearce said she often asked as a child, but never seemed to get the answer she wanted. “Now I realize I wasn’t getting the right answer because I was asking the wrong question,” said Rev. Pearce. “I think this won- derful world has given us a great place to play and in- vestigate, unless we happen Anyone who enjoys or- gan music — and espe- cially pipe organ music — New Life Lutheran Church is the place to experience it. The church has the only pipe organ in Florence and one of very few on the Oregon Coast. In fact, the church was built especially to accommodate the or- gan. Each week, the sanctu- ary is filled with the soar- ing tones of this beautiful instrument played by the talented local organist Bri- an Lindsey. The Greek engineer Cteribius is credited with inventing the organ in the third century B.C. He devised an instrument called the hydraulis, which delivered a wind supply maintained through water pressure to a set of pipes. The organ was initially used mainly for ceremonial functions, circuses or per- formances and extensively in the Roman culture. A component of a pipe organ is a stop that admits pressured air to a set of to be too busy. Like Saul, for an example, whom God gave an eye-opening two- by-four.” On Sunday, Rev. Pearce will respond to her own question. FUUF is located at 87738 Highway 101 at Heceta Beach Road and is wheelchair accessible. Each service concludes with refreshments and a dialogue circle to explore the questions that come up during each worship ser- vice. For more information, visit www.florenceuuf.org. The phrase “pull out all the stops” has entered general usage for deploying all available means to pur- sue a goal. Mozart called the organ the “King of all Instru- ments” because of its wide expressive range. Subtle differences in the shape of pipes enable it to imitate many other instru- ments, especially wind in- struments to create a vari- ety of sounds. The community is wel- come to come and hear this beautiful instrument played professionally by an expert organist each week.
