SIUSLAW NEWS | WEDNESDAY, MAY 29, 2019 | 3A Community News ROCKET homeschoolers to perform Shakespeare in the park Friday The local Florence home- school group will be pre- senting its seventh-annual Shakespeare performance on Friday, May 31, at 5:30 p.m., at Honeyman State Park in the meadow (across from the bathrooms), then again on Tuesday, June 4, at 3:30 p.m. at the Florence Farmers Market, located at the west end of Bay Street next to the Veteran’s Memo- rial Wall. Friends of the Library members can come to a special preview sale Satur- day from 9 to 10 a.m. Mem- berships are available at the door. Friends of the Library President Linda Weight said, “If you want to stock up on some great summer reading at great prices, this is your chance. We have al- most 200 boxes of quality used books, many in like- new condition and we’ve lowered prices on many items. “We also have au-dio- books, DVDs and wonder- ful tote bags with custom art by a local artist.” The Friends of the Siu- slaw Public Library is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organi- zation. Proceeds from the book sales benefit the Siuslaw Library District in many ways, including equipment, support of the summer reading program and the Library Endowment Fund. In 2018 the Friends of the Library were able to donate over $19,000 directly to the library and another $4,000 to the Library Endowment Fund.
