Are you ready to meet
The Wiz — played by
Roxi Clement?
“The Wiz” tells the
story of Dororthy’s jour-
ney to Oz with an upbeat
retro/urban/soul vibe.
CROW promises to do
the classic story justice,
with high-quality sets,
costumes, special effects
and much more.
The 50+ person cast
of all-youth performers
have been rehearsing complicated music, dances and
scenes since mid-January, and are poised and pol-
ished. Popular songs from the show include “Ease On
Down The Road,” “Believe in Yourself,” “Everybody
Rejoice” and “Home.”
CROW Artistic Director Melanie Heard says, “This
is absolutely our best show, yet!” — and that’s saying
something, considering the non-profit organization
has already produced seven mainstage youth mu-
sicals, four haunted mazes, a dance showcase, sev-
eral teen straight plays and three Holly Jolly Follies

holiday shows — all of
which have dazzled pa-
trons since 2011.
The story goes like
this: Once upon a time,
a tornado transports a
young girl named Dor-
othy (Nyah Vollmar)
from Kansas to the land
of Oz. While trying to
find her way back home,
she meets a Scarecrow
(Cort Waggoner), Tin-
man (Jonathan Olson)
and Lion (William Owens), who are each looking for
something very personal to them. When the friends
meet the Wiz and complete their journey, the audi-
ence realizes that what they were looking for was in
fact a part of them all along.
The Wiz is offered for six public shows this year,
and continues this weekend, with shows Saturday,
April 12, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, April 14 at 2 p.m. For
tickets and more info, visit www.crowkids.com or call
