Early Rhody Show today, tomorrow
This year’s annual Early
Rhododendron Show should
be very interesting for local
rhododendron enthusiasts.
With the recent wind, rain,
drought, heat, cold, sleet,
snow — only the hardiest,
most tenacious flowers will
shine bright in April.
The show is open to any-
one who would like to share
their beautiful trusses with
the world and possibly go
home with a ribbon or tro-
phy.
A few guidelines to follow:
select a truss that is as com-
pletely open as possible; try
to find the straightest stem;
bug bites are not our favor-
ite design, but sometimes we
can’t avoid them; wipe any
dust or dirt from the leaves
with water only and remem-
ber, everyone has had the
same weather as you.
Don’t worry about them
being perfect. The more, the
merrier.
Judging will commence
at 9 a.m. Saturday and the
viewing will be as soon as
the judging is finished; usu-
ally around noon.
Doors close Saturday at 5
p.m. and will open at 10 a.m.
Sunday, April 14, until 5 p.m.
Beautiful plants will also
be available at the show from
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
For more information,
call Day Farrald at 541-590-
3161.
