She had a way with kids and many students called her “mom.” Constance had nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchil- dren. After Ray died, she mar- ried Elvin “Jack” Farmer. They were married 20 years in Florence, Ore. They en- joyed dancing, friends and some traveling. Constance volunteered a FARMER—Constance Farmer, 94+, went to be with the LORD! Kind, sweet, lov- ing and hard working, she was married for 45 years to Ray Reynolds. She was very proud of their six children. Her joy was that her chil- dren were doing well and loved each other; she talked and bragged about them all. Children are Dan, Joyce, Ju- lie, Steven, June and Nancy. They raised the last five children on a ranch in Cave Junction, Ore. She enjoyed gardening Dunes Memorial Chapel lot for her church, the hos- pital, garden club, Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge, and went to Coastal Fitness senior class. Her last nine-plus years were spent living with el- dest daughter Joyce in Sa- lem. Daughter Nancy also helped care for their mom. She enjoyed her senior fitness class at 24 hour fit- ness and her respite group at the senior center Club 50+. She was preceded in death by her brother Warren, half-sister Arda, half-broth- er Lloyd, brother-in-law Dale and many more. She is missed deeply. Constance is best de- scribed by 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 . Her memorial was March 23. PIERSON —Paulette Frances Pierson, 83, of Flor- ence, passed away March 24, 2019. Oregon Deptartment of Revenue offers tips to avoid tax scams The best way for taxpayers to make payments direct- ly to the Oregon Depart- ment of Revenue (ODR) is through Revenue Online at oregon.gov/dor. It’s secure and includes all the informa- tion necessary to ensure the payment is properly applied to the correct account. Here are some tips to help you identify scam attempts. • Scammers make un- solicited calls. Thieves call taxpayers claiming to be representatives of the Ore- gon Department of Revenue or other tax officials. They demand that the victim pay a bogus tax bill and may use threats or a sense of urgency to con the victim into send- ing cash, usually through a prepaid debit card or wire transfer. The Department of Rev- enue never uses methods like these when making calls. Hang up on suspicious phone calls. No matter how urgent a message makes a situation sound, you can al- ways hang up, call the De- partment of Revenue at 503- 378-4988 or 800-356-4222, and know that you’re dealing with an actual government employee. • Scammers send letters. Letters often contain legit- imate logos, addresses and phone numbers to fool you. Sometimes, these letters ex- pose themselves as scams through blurry logos, mis- spellings and poor gram- mar. Letters are usually in the form of a fake tax bill or claiming an error with your account. Letters from the ODR will have information that is verifiable through its website and every letter is printed with an identifica- tion number in the upper right corner. • Some scams that start as unsolicited calls or letters may also try to send you to fake websites. These web- sites are designed to look like and official federal or state agency site. Remember that the Oregon Department of Revenue’s web address will always begin with an “https://” designation and be from the “.gov” extension.
