SIUSLAW NEWS | SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2019 | 5A Western Lane Community Foundation awards $78,524 to local nonprofits Community members rep- resenting 32 local nonprof- it organizations, the Board of Directors of the Western Lane Community Founda- tion (WLCF) and the Ro- tary Club of Florence met on Tuesday, March 12, at the Florence Events Center to witness the WLCF 2019 Foundation Grant Awards Program. WLCF President Jim Gra- no and Grant Program Chair Nancy Walker introduced each recipient and presented the various nonprofit organi- zations with their checks. The checks represent the WLCF’s ongoing mission of supporting projects or programs providing need- ed services or facilities for which public funds are not available, or insufficient, and to contribute to the cul- tural, economic, educational, or social betterment of our community. Their intent is to award large enough sums to make a significant and visible impact on a demonstrated need in our Western Lane commu- nity.
