Dr. Ruth Miller, who will share a message titled “Dis- equilibrium,” which is the first of a four-part series called “Building the Fu- ture.” “We constantly seek peace and harmony in our lives, but periodically things feel out of balance and peace seems far away,” Miller said. “Exploring the indicators and sources of those feelings helps us be- gin to recognize the con- trasts and get clear about what we’re ready to experi- ence now. “This Sunday, we will ac- knowledge the ways it feels out of balance and begin to define the contrasts that can guide our choices.” FUUF, located at 87738 Highway 101 at Heceta Beach Road, is wheelchair accessible. Spirituali-Tea’s next event looks to U.M., MLK Monday Anyone interested in dis- cussing diverse spiritual ideas in an atmosphere of respect and inquisitiveness is invited to “Spirituali-Tea,” a group that has been meet- ing each Monday for years at 875 Seventh St. at 6:30 p.m. On Jan. 14, Suzanne Mann-Heintz, president of the Siuslaw Education Foundation, will speak about the International Day of Education celebrated by the United Nations. According to the Bahá’í Teachings, “If a plant is care- fully nurtured by a garden- er, it will become good, and produce better fruit. These children must be given a good training from their earliest childhood.” The gathering will end at 8 p.m. after the discussion and after reading the prayer requests that have been left in the Prayer Pole in the garden of the Florence Play- house, 208 Laurel St. In addition, Florence Bahá’ís are preparing to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 21. The Florence community and the friends of the prin- ciples shared by Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. are invited to attend and participate in a gathering in the Bromley Room of the Siuslaw Public Library, 1460 Ninth St., from 2 to 4 p.m. This gathering is sponsored by the Bahá’ís of Florence in conjunction with several individuals and groups which share the im- portance of obverting this holiday. Air stagnation predicted for Lane County this weekend The Lane Regional Air Protection Agency is pre- dicting a period of air stag- nation and issuing a Yellow home wood heating ad- visory that began Friday through Monday, Jan. 14. Annual ‘Women’s Wave’ march set for Jan. 19 Florence ORganizes, a local organization that ad- dresses the needs of the community through health care, the environment, public education and hu- man rights welcomes the community to join the Women’s Wave on Satur- day, Jan. 19. The day will begin with a Women’s March at noon, starting from the Florence United Methodist Church, 333 Kingwood Street. Any- one who supports women and their rights is wel- come, and participants are encouraged to bring signs with positive messages. The Wave continues with lunch and a celebra- tion at 1:30 p.m., along with a fundraiser for the new “Heart of the Coast” Housing Alliance, at the Florence Senior Center, 1570 Kingwood Street. The march is in collab- oration with the national Women’s March (Women’s Wave), and also to pro- mote the new “Heart of the Coast” Housing Alliance to help bring affordable hous- ing to Florence.
