Mor- ris announces his passing in the early hours of Fri- day, Dec. 28, 2018, at the young age of 76. Gary will be lovingly remem- bered by his wife of 48 years, Marinda (Sue); his children: Tr a c y, Rick and Gary Morris C h e r i Laxague of Bakersfield, Calif., and Scott and Cheyenne Mor- SEACOAST ENTERTAINMENT ASSOCIATION ris of Florence. Gary will also be fond- ly remembered by his grandchildren: Brandi, Zachary, Tyler, Austin, Alisabeth and Savannah; and two great-grandchil- dren, Wesley and Jonah. He is also survived by his brother Lloyd and sis- ter-in-law Janie; his sis- ters Willetta and Beverly, and brother-in-law Dale; along with many nephews and nieces that still reside back in his hometown of Evansville, Ind. Even though Gary was born in Kentucky and grew up in Evansville, he was an Oregon boy from head to toe. Pop, Papa, Dad, or “Gary damn Mercer” were all names he would answer to. To those who didn’t know him, he was a straight-forward man. You always knew where you stood with him. In his younger years, Gary loved to fish, trap, hunt and golf when we made him. He was an avid outdoorsman with many, many pictures taken on his 35mm camera of the thousands of miles he covered in the woods on foot, by truck and by boat; it will take a lifetime to see them all. He loved this town called Florence and there would be nothing that could take him from here. Most people who knew Gary knew the business- man. A local builder here in Florence since 1976, his company Gary Mor- ris Construction “Better Built Homes” was some- thing he took as much pride in as anything in his life. He was so hell bent on providing a quality home he sacrificed profit by al- ways using superior lum- ber and products. If you are lucky enough to live in a home built by Gary Morris, know that he gave it everything he had from beginning to end. Gary was the patriarch of our family and to say he will be missed is an un- derstatement of an entire lifetime. Rest in peace, Papa! A memorial service in memory of Gary will al- ready have been under- taken by the print of this paper. Burns’s Riverside Chap- el Florence Funeral Home was in charge of arrange- ments. HAMMAN—Mary K.
