Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Free and fun! Book Purchase Requests Are you anxious to be the first to read the next Lee Child or Louise Penny book? Have you noticed that the library seems to be missing a par- ticular book in a young adult series? Is there a new movie you would like to see? Or is there a wonderful new author you want the library to know about? Many of our patrons request that the library pur- chase books, DVDs, audio- books, and other materials. We receive requests in per- son, on the phone and through our website. Each request is assigned to the appropriate staff member who purchases for that area of the collection. A couple of things we look at: is the book fairly new or was it published long ago? Does the material fit within our collection? Sometimes it is determined that the item is more easily available through interlibrary loan (more on that next week), though the major- ity of requests are purchased. Books are usually ordered twice monthly, while audio- books are ordered more on a quarterly schedule. Due to the quantity we can’t respond individually to every request, but we will notify patrons once the item is available (ei- ther through purchase or in- terlibrary loan) or if we are ultimately unable to obtain the item. City Club meets from noon to 1 p.m. in the clubhouse of Ocean Dunes Golf Links, 3345 Munsel Lake Rd. A limited lunch menu is available for purchase prior to the program. Meetings are open to the public. Lauria has been doing live theater since he was 8 years old. He has acted and direct- ed both professionally and in community theatres all of his life. Since moving to Florence over 25 years ago, he has ap- peared as an actor in shows like “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Proof ” and murder mystery productions, as well as di- recting shows like “Cabaret,” “Chicago” and “The Sound of Music” at the Florence Events Center. After he and his wife Rose- mary founded Class Act The- atre, Lauria both directed and acted in “The 25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” which first ran at the FEC as a Last Resort Players produc- tion. At Class Act Theater, the smaller stage allowed for great- er variety than a mainstage the- ater, featuring one-man shows, drag queen performances, live music and presentations.
