The presentation will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Guests will be Russ Pier- son and Suzanne Mann- Heintz. Pierson is the dean of Lane Community College’s Florence Center and the newly elected president of the Florence Area Chamber of Commerce. He is an APPA Certified Educational Facilities Pro- fessional, a Certified Sus- Degree of success tainable Building Advisor, a Green Faith Fellow and a 2013 USBGC Greenbuild Scholar. Mann-Heintz serves on the Siuslaw School Board, the Siuslaw Education Foundation, Safe Shelter for Siuslaw Students, the 90 by 30 Child Abuse Preven- tion Project, Aspire and the Flying Needles & Hooks of the Siuslaw. Both Pierson and Mann- Heintz will share the rea- sons the school board de- cided to go out for a bond and the details of the pro- posed projects. Victim advocate Hickman to speak at next FACC meeting Marie Hickman, advocate for victims of domestic vio- lence and sexual assault for Siuslaw Outreach Services (SOS), will be the speaker at this month’s Florence Area Community Coalition gen- eral meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Bromley Room of the Siuslaw Public Library. She will share additional information about the many services provided to the community by SOS. In addition, SOS express- es appreciation for all the donations to its emergency supplies area and reminds the community that the an- nual “March to End Domes- tic Violence” will be held on Sunday, Sept. 30. Marchers will gather at the Veteran’s Memorial Park on Bay Street at 12:45 p.m., then walk down Bay Street to the Boardwalk, where there will be a brief and inspirational program. Everyone is welcome. The Florence Area Com- munity Coalition reminds individuals and organiza- tions that it is time to renew memberships. The membership year is from July 1 to June 30.
