SIUSLAW NEWS | SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2018 | 5A Vision Quest announces launch of Oregon Coast Quests Vision Quest: Live, Learn, Explore has announced its final event of 2018, a launch party for Oregon Coast Quests. Celebra- tions will take place on Saturday, Sept. 29, and Sunday, Sept. 30. Quests are fun, free-choice learning adventures that use clues and hints to encourage participants to discover the natural, cultural and historical “treasures” of place and com- munity. Suitable for groups of all ages, self-guided Quests al- low lifelong learners to explore parks, trails and other outdoor spaces in new ways and at their own pace. Vision Quest team member Dina Pavlis said, “Quests exist in most counties along the coast, but not in West Lane County. Our team is excited about bring- ing these fun and engaging ad- ventures to our community.” On Sept. 29, Oregon Coast Quest Coordinator Cait Good- win will present “Learn to Quest” at the Siuslaw Pioneer Museum in Historic Old Town Florence. Participants will learn about Oregon Coast Quests, in- cluding where they are and how to participate, and receive copies of two new Quests in the Siuslaw Region courtesy of the Florence Area Chamber of Commerce. Attendees will have a chance to win a copy of the Oregon Coast Quests Book. To accom- modate all who would like to attend, Goodwin will give the presentation at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Space is limited and seating is on a first-come basis. For directions to the museum, call 541-997-7884. Then on Sept. 30, join the U.S. Forest Service and authors of the new Lagoon Trail Quest for a Launch Party & Camp- fire. Stop in at Campsite No. 3 at Waxmyrtle Campground any time between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to celebrate the opening of the Lagoon Trail Quest. A campfire with no-cost s’mores and interpretive displays will be at the campsite. Free copies of the Lagoon Trail Quest will be available. The campground is located at Siltcoos Recreation Area, south of Dunes City. Park in pub- lic parking area and walk into campsite. Both events are free, but a Northwest Forest Pass, Oregon Coast Passport, federal recre- ation pass or $5 day-use park- ing fee is required within the Siltcoos Recreation Area for the Sunday event. Pillars of UU’ Sunday On Sunday, Sept. 23, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Florence Uni- tarian Universalist Fellowship, the Rev. Stephen Landale will share a message titled: “The Two Pillars of UU.” Imagine if society, your fam- ily and community were truly guided by two principles: “The inherent worth and dignity of every person” and “Respect for the interdependent web of all existence, of which we are a part.” These are the first and last of the Seven Principles of Unitari- an Universalism. These will be addressed by Landale, who has served as a hospice chaplain for six years following a dozen years as a UU church minister. The fellowship is located at 87738 Highway 101 at Heceta Beach Road and is wheelchair accessible. Each service con- cludes with refreshments and a dialogue circle to explore the questions that come up during each worship service. For more information, visit www.florenceuuf.org. Spirituali-Tea group will delve into ‘unrest’ Monday People who are interested in discussing diverse spiritu- al ideas in an atmosphere of respect and inquisitiveness are invited to a group that has been meeting for years at 875 Seventh St. at 6:30 p.m. each Monday.
