SIUSLAW NEWS | SATURDAY, JUNE 16, 2018 | 5A Unitarians to discuss fathers, father-figures confused and confusing, but that hasn’t always been the case. “There are archetypal images in our society’s consciousness that can help us remember what it means to lovingly fa- ther a child — or an adult who was once our child,” said Miller “Today, we honor those who have provided that role for oth- ers as we tap into the Animus, the father, in all of us.” The fellowship, located at 87738 Highway 101 at Heceta Beach Road, is wheelchair ac- cessible. Each service concludes with refreshments and a dialogue circle to explore the questions that come up during each wor- ship service. For more information, visit www.florenceuuf.org. Spirituali-Tea to address topic of ‘respect’ Monday On Monday, June 18, at 6:30 p.m., all are invited to join a group of people who enjoy finding the common grounds in diverse spiritual thoughts and paths. The meeting is at 875 Sev- enth St. in Florence. The topic this week will be “Respect.” The Bahá’í Writings say, “Let not your heart be offended with anyone. If someone commits an error and wrong toward you, you must instantly forgive him. Do not complain of oth- ers. Refrain from reprimanding them, and if you wish to give admonition or advice, let it be offered in such a way that it will not burden the bearer. Turn all your thoughts toward bringing joy to hearts.” Community members are in- vited to bring their thoughts on the subject for open discussion. Tea, coffee and cookies will be offered. The gathering will end at 8 p.m. with prayers for the re- quests left in the Prayer Pole in the garden of the Florence Playhouse and those shared by the group. For more information, call Suzanne Mann-Heintz at 541- 590-0616. USLAW SI S igns 3 S On Sunday, June 17, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Florence Uni- tarian Universalist Fellowship, the Rev. Dr. Ruth Miller will lead the worship service. Her message will most cer- tainly be about Father’s Day, and she encourages everyone to bring a photo or other re- minder of the father-figure in your life. “‘We are the fathers, blessed with a gentle strength’ is a line in a song reminding us that ‘We are the ones we’ve been waiting for,’” said Miller. “Since Jesus the Nazarene is said to have re- ferred to the power he relied on as ‘Daddy’ and ‘Father,’ Chris- tianity has woven divinity and fatherhood into one complicat- ed strand.” Miller added that, in today‘s world, the role of father is often Teacher Appreciation & G R A I P H C 'ų 8 INDOOR / OUTDOOR • • • • • • SIGNS & BANNERS VEHICLE GRAPHICS VINYL LETTERING STICKERS & CLINGS WINDOW GRAPHICS YARD SIGNS 997-8148 LOCATED AT: 7KH6KLSSLQ·6KDFN 2QWKHFRUQHURI th 6WUHHW +LJKZD\ Buying or Selling?
