Fish and Wildlife and the Florence Salmon Trout Enhancement Program (STEP) and included loaner fishing poles with free bait, fish print T-shirts for kids to make, a hot dog lunch provided by the U.S. Forest Service, and fun contests for children and parents. Five teams — Welton Construction, THC, ACC, Beachcomber and the Shockers — will be on the fields for doubleheaders each Wednesday, with games at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., from now through the league tournament Aug. 21 and 22. Team managers include Tim Garneau (ACC), Cody Anderson (Beachcomber), Sean Campbell (Shockers), Rich DeSantis (THC) and Greg Welton (Welton Construction). Games are played on the north and south fields, with teams rotating fields between games. FORE GOLF TOURNEY FIRST OF FOUR SUMMER FUNDRASIERS ON THE GREENS MARK BRENNAN/SIUSLAW NEWS Partcipants in the annual FORE! Golf Tournament for the Boys & Girls Club June 2. The annual FORE! Kids Golf Tournment held June 2 at Ocean Dunes golf links marked the first of five tournaments scheduled between now and September, each of which will benefit a different organization. The annual Fore! Kids tourney, which is a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club in Florence, included more than 130 golfers competing in the 18-hole event. This year’s tourney was the most successful in the club’s history, according to See Valley streams opened to trout May 22 There are some nice cut- throat in these streams, and these aggressive fish can be a hoot to catch. SIUSLAW RIVER: Cutthroat trout Trout fishing in streams and river open on May 22. Fishing is restricted to arti- ficial flies and lures, May 22- Aug 31. MID COAST LAKES: Mid coast lakes stocking schedule for this year is posted online. Stocking of mid coast lakes began in February. Siltcoos Lagoon will not be stocked this year due to continued low dissolved oxygen. Trout scheduled to be released in Siltcoos Lagoon will be diverted to Cleawox Lake. ALSEA RIVER: Cutthroat trout Trout fishing in streams and river opened in May. Fishing is restricted to arti- ficial flies and lures through Aug 31. SALMON RIVER: Cutthroat trout Trout fishing in streams and river opened May 22. Fishing is restricted to arti- ficial flies and lures through Aug 31. SILETZ RIVER: Steelhead, spring Chinook, cutthroat trout Summer steelhead are in the river. Fishing is slow but will improve over the coming weeks. The river is in good condition. Casting spinners, drifting bait or using a bobber and jig can be effective. Spring Chinook are available in the Siletz.
