MAY 16, 2018 • 111th Rhododendron Festival • 17 Show & Shine shows off the Rhody Express off ers classics and old favorites safe festival transport Rhody Days Car Show and Shine celebrates 26 years as the biggest car show in Florence. Beachkombers Car Club’s Show and Shine is Saturday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Grocery Outlet parking lot off High- way 101. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Th e judged show is open to cars and trucks 1975 and older. It features more than 200 clas- sic cars, especially British models, military vehicles, hot rods, rat rods and daily drivers, both stock and modifi ed. Cars come from all over the Pacifi c Northwest to “Rhody Ren- dezvous” with this popular show. A favorite among locals is the car show pre- registration on Friday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. “Th is always turns into a small car show in its self. It is a great way to make Saturday morning run smoothly,” said event organiz- ers. Judges will give trophies and awards be- tween 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Th ere will be a 50/50 drawing, raffl e prizes, hot dog booth and more. Shirts are also for sale now. Don’t miss the evening Car Cruise through Old Town, put on by KCST Coast Radio. Sign-up is during the Show and Shine, but it is on a fi rst-come, fi rst-serve basis and space is limited. Th ere will be free rides for all passengers on the Rhody Express on Friday, May 18, and Saturday, May 19. People may board anywhere on the route and ride for free all day. For those experiencing the night life during the Rhodo- dendron Festival, the Rhody Express is also a safe and con- venient way to get you from Bay Street to any lodging within the city limits FREE of charge from 9 p.m. until 3 a.m. on Friday and Satur- day nights. So have fun and remember to drink responsi- bly. Pickup is at the intersection of Bay and Maple streets. Normal service is provided by the Rhody Express Mon- day through Friday between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and conveniently serves locations around Florence such as Historic Old Town, Fred Meyer, Safeway, Gro- cery Outlet, Th ree Rivers Casino Resort, Peace Harbor Hospital, the Siuslaw School District and more.
