ANDREWS—Linda
An-
drews, a long-time resident of
the Mapleton area, died Thurs-
day, April 26, at home with her
family.
Born in 1949 in Willmar,
Minn., her family moved to
Swisshome in the early 1950s.
She graduated from Mapleton

eight grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
Linda was an artist and
worked as a cake decorator at
Thriftway and Safeway in Flor-
ence, where she worked until her
retirement.
Linda loved baking, sewing,
quilting and crocheting and had
a wonderful smile that could
light up a room.
She was preceded in death by
her daughter, Tracy Andrews;
her son Scott Andrews and
grandson Stefan Andrews.
She is survived by her hus-
band, Edward; her daughter,
Stacy Carnahan, and son Kevin

The Florence Police Depart-
ment will be participating in ad-
ditional Oregon Impact funded
DUII enforcement in May. The
high visibility DUII enforcement
is scheduled for Friday, May 25
through Monday, May 28 (Me-
morial Day weekend).
The Florence Police Depart-
ment reminds people that pre-
scription drugs, over-the-count-
er medications, and illegal drugs
may cause impairment alone or
in combination with each oth-
er and/or with alcohol. In every
State and the District of Colum-
bia, impaired driving is illegal.
Whether by drugs — legal or
illegal — alcohol, or a combina-
tion of both drugs and alcohol,
impaired driving puts the driver,
their passengers and other road
users at risk.
In the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration’s
National Roadside Survey con-
ducted in 2013-14, 20 percent of
drivers that were surveyed tested
positive for potentially impairing
drugs.
The Florence Police Depart-
ment has specially trained offi-
cers that will be on the lookout
for drug and/or alcohol impaired
drivers in addition to normal pa-
trols during the month of May.
During the month of April,
the Florence Police Department
participated in additional DUII
patrols with grant funding pro-
vided by Oregon Impact.
The Florence Police Depart-
ment did not make any DUII
arrests during the additional
grant funded shifts but did make
10 DUII arrests throughout the
month of April.
