OBITUARIES
BOEHI—Ronald Boehi, 87,
formerly of Florrence, passed
away May 1, 2018, after a long
battle with Parkinson’s disease.
He was born on June 20,
1930, in Portland, Ore., to Carl
and Linda
(Schnei-
der) Boehi.
He was an
alumni of
Portland
State College

in the insur-
Ronald Boehi ance indus-
try for more
than five de-
cades, starting with the St. Paul
Insurance Company in 1951.
While there, he ignored com-
pany policy on dating co-work-
ers and asked MaryCleve Por-
ter-Smith for a date on her first
day of employment; they mar-
ried on July 31, 1953.
In 1957, Ron moved his family
to Eugene, Ore., where he began
work with the Tromp & McKin-
ley Insurance Agency. He even-
tually became a partner and then
CEO of the agency.
When Willis Corroon pur-
chased the agency, he served as
CEO for the statewide opera-
tions before retiring in 1992. Ron
was respected for his fairness
and integrity. He was a wise and
steady boss who helped build a
family atmosphere that former
employees still miss.
During their retirement years
in Florence, Ron and MaryCleve
were members of Siuslaw Pres-
byterian Church, and Ron served
on the session. He also served as
president of the Western Lane
Community Foundation and
was on the board for Habitat for
Humanity.
Ron was devoted to his wife,
children and grandchildren.
Nothing pleased him more than
family gatherings at Mercer Lake
and Siltcoos Lake. He was very
social and had a great sense of
humor, although he never un-
derstood jokes.
Ron is survived by his wife,
MaryCleve; his son David Boe-
hi (Merry) of Little Rock, Ark.,
daughter DeeDee Munson
(Dave) of West Linn; grandchil-
dren Bethany Johnson (David) of
Scott, Ark., Missy O’Dell (Ryan)
of Little Rock, Chris Munson
of Portland, and Jessica Harvey
(Jameson) of Sherwood; and

which he emerged the winner. In
the 1950s, he moved to Oregon,
where he spent most of his adult
life.
In 1966, Stan joined the U.S.
Coast Guard and served as a
Merchant Marine. Stan also
raced sprint cars on the Oregon

possessed, he chose to earn his
living logging and truck driving.
He completed his working career
as a self-employed dump truck
operator at age 79.
Stan’s “happy place” was his
newly constructed “Garden of
Eden,” where he enjoyed contem-

bride.. He did not abandon his
love of motorizing but switched
to dune buggying on the dunes
and beaches while accompanied
with the love of his life, Elaine.
Stan contributed generously to
his community in resources and
skills, but especially loved shar-
ing the gospel from which many
have benefitted.

and great-grandchildren.
