OBITUARIES
MARKEE —Darleen
Markee of Florence passed
away peacefully at home of
acute leukemia on April 19,
2018.

She was an

homemaker
for the children and her hus-
band, Dick.
The couple celebrated their
61st wedding anniversary last
December.
Darleen was an artist, enjoy-
ing many different types of
media. For the last 20 years,
she spent most of her time
quilting. She was an expert
quilter and won many awards,
even winning the Mayor’s
Trophy one year. Darleen was a
member of the American
Quilter’s Society and Florence
Quilt Guild, but her favorite
meetings were with a small
group of local ladies who call
themselves “Fabric Fondlers.”
She would not say bad things
about people, even if people
did bad things. She made a sign
for a wall of her home with the
children were growing up
which read: “If you can’t say
something nice about a person,
don’t say anything.”
As Lauralyn said to the fam-
ily shortly after Darleen passed,
“If anyone deserves to be an
angel, she does.”
Darleen will be sorely
missed by her beloved grand-
children, Sara, Kloe, Chris,
Ricky, Marissa, Alyssa and
Kelsey, and by us all.
Rest in peace, my love.
Service for the family will be
at a later date.

memories of Chris who always

simple pleasures and the com-

him.
Chris sought joy on moun-
