EUGENE — Eugene Police Department continues to actively investigate a series of messages containing threats against Lane County Board of Commissioners and some county staff. Additional information is being shared to elicit tips regarding the person sending these messages, with the goal of ensuring the safety of those individuals and the public. Letters have been sent to various officials and staff threatening to harm them if an aerial herbicide spray ban measure (Freedom from Aerial Spraying of Herbicides Bill of Rights Charter Amendment) is not put on the upcoming May ballot. The person sending the messages is claiming to be a Vietnam-era veteran who has stage-four cancer. Anyone with relevant information about who may be sending the letters is asked to contact Detective Newell at 541-682-5174. In late February, a news release was sent out from Lane County Government regarding threats to harm commissioners and staff. Since that time, there have been additional threats made. Dunes City seeks applicants to Planning Commission Dunes City is accepting applications for a planning commissioner. Anyone inter- ested in applying for this position must reside in Dunes City and complete an Application for Appointive Office available at Dunes City Hall or from the City’s website, www.dunescity.com/ permits-and-forms. Applications may be mailed or delivered to Dunes City Hall, 82877 Spruce St., Westlake, OR 97493, or emailed to: planning@dunes cityor.com. This is a volunteer position with a term ending date of Jan. 10, 2019. Applicants will be notified of the date the Dunes City Council will con- sider applications and should plan to attend that meeting. The Planning Commission considers land use applica- tions and revisions to Dunes City's land use code. The Planning Commission also provides oversight of the Dunes City Citizen Involvement Program. This position offers an opportunity to learn how the implementation of land use code takes place, what must be done to change codes, and the process of conducting public hearings. The Planning Commission meets at Dunes City Hall on the fourth Thursday of the month at 5 p.m., and in spe- cial sessions as necessary. He was sentenced to four days in the Florence City Jail. He must pay $480 in fines. Eric Dean Sexton pleaded guilty to criminal trespass. He must pay $525 in fines and not contact or be in or the resi- dence or place of employment of the victim. Mar. 20 Matthew James Gordon pleaded guilty to criminal mis- chief. He was sentenced to two days in the Florence City Jail. He must pay $520 in fines and not contact or be in or the res- idence or place of employment of the victim. Larry DeWayne Smith pleaded guilty to Theft. He must pay $525 in fines and not contact or be in or the resi- dence or place of employment of the victim. Mar. 27 Michael J. Gilbert pleaded guilty to theft and resisting arrest. He was sentenced to 30 days in the Florence City Jail. He must pay $55 in fines.
