Teams have been selected and practices have begun. When my four children played, it was called the Florence Junior baseball League. The Miller Park of today can be attributed to the many previous years of efforts from Rick and Corrine Gehlke. Their devotion to the youth of Florence should never be forgotten. The sight of Corrine in rubber boots raking the water off the fields so games could be played was a common sight. Right there with her would be Rick, along with a bucket of sand for home plate batting areas and the pitchers’ mounds. Many games that other- wise would have been can- celled because of rain were played thanks to their due diligence. Though many others helped, Rick and Corrine were the foundation of the current Miller Park.
