STAGE CENTER FEBRUARY 2018 F OR THE LOVE OF MUSIC Mandy Harvey Emerald City Jazz Kings S EAcoast Entertainment presents Mandy Harvey T he Emerald City Jazz Kings will celebrate the songs of Bing Crosby with “A Pocketful of Dreams” on Sunday, February 11th at 2:00 p.m. at the Florence Events Center. In 1947, an Associated Press poll declared him "the most admired man alive"- ahead of Jackie Robinson, Pope Pius the XII and President Harry S. Truman. In 1948, Music Digest estimated that more than half of the 80,000 hours of recorded music broadcast on radio each week was filled with his recordings. In 1954, Decca Records declared that "the voice of Bing Crosby has been heard by more people than the voice of any other human being who has ever lived.” By mid-century, the crooner’s voice, face and personality were indeed seemingly everywhere. Jesse Cloninger and The Jazz Kings pay tribute to Crosby with a choice selection of the best from his long career. Favorite hits “Pennies from Heaven,” “I’ll Be Seeing You,” “Lili Marlene,” “Blue Skies,” and of course, “I’ve Got a Pocketful of Dreams” will be presented. Mandy is an award winning singer, songwriter and motivational speaker who just happens to have an invisible disability. A Vocal Music Edu- cation major at Colorado State University, Man- dy lost her residual hearing in 2006-2007 at age eighteen due to a connective tissue disorder that affected her nerves and she left the program. She pursued several career options, including edu- cation, but returned to music in 2008, her true passion could no longer be denied. She quickly became a regular performer at various venues and has released three albums thus far. Though her hearing loss is profound, her timing and pitch are perfect and her passion is tremendous. In 2011, Mandy won VSA’s Top Young Soloist Award and lived a personal dream of performing at the Kennedy Center in DC. She continues to perform around the United States and has been recently featured on NBC Nightly News, Can- ada AM, The Steve Harvey Show, and the Los Angeles Times. In addition to performing and speaking, Mandy has become an ambassador to both No Barriers USA and Invisible Disabilities Association. Her mission is to encourage, inspire and assist others to break through their personal barriers, while sharing the joy of music. In 2017, Mandy Harvey gained national atten- tion with her audition on Season 12 of America’s Got Talent when she played her original song “Try” while playing the ukulele. Moved by her performance, Simon Cowell pressed his golden buzzer to send Mandy straight to the Quarter- finals. Mandy finished in the final round to a standing ovation. TEASE Burlesque T he #1 touring burlesque show in the Pacific Northwest will make its debut at the Florence Events Center on Saturday February 24 th at 7:00 p.m. Selling out shows throughout 6 States, TEASE Burlesque Revue is inspired heavily by the enter- tainment capital of the World, Las Vegas. TEASE will leave everyone’s jaws on the floor and the au- dience begging for more. The cast is outstanding and all have traveled throughout North America, and Internationally with their craft.
