2 A SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 27, 2017 OBITUARIES GROVER—Diana Jean Stinger-Grover, 67, of Florence, passed away Dec. 18, 2017, in the comfort of her own home of nat- ural causes. She was born Sept. 7, Diana Stinger- 1950, in Grover Gold Beach, Ore., to Dan and Vivian Stinger. They moved to Florence in 1954. She graduated from Siuslaw High School in 1968. She mar- ried Billie Lee Grover shortly after graduation. She is survived by her par- ents; two daughters, Angela and Misty (Justin); her five grandchildren: Shakina, Shantay, Keonan, McCainley and Nikila; four brothers: Calvin, Danny (Susie), Craig (Leslie) and Tony; and many nieces and nephews. She was loved by many and will forever be missed by her loved ones. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Dec. 30, at Best Western in the conference room, beginning at 2 p.m.. It will be potluck style, and all family and friends are invit- ed. PRINDEL—Ronald V. Prindel (Ron), 88, died at his home in Swisshome on Sunday, Nov 5, 2017. He was born on Aug 27, 1929 in Eugene, Ore., to Ralph F. and Myrtle A. Prindel. R o n attended Mapleton High School and graduat- ed in 1947. Ron Prindel He joined the U.S. Navy and studied diesel mechanics. On June 22, 1952, Ron married Barbara “Bobbi” Yeager, the love of his life for 64 years. They settled in Swisshome, Ore., where they raised their family. Ron worked as a truck driv- er for Ted Nielson and worked on the pond at Haskin Lumber Co. When Ron went to work for Erskine Lumber Co. in Tide, Ore., he operated his favorite “Wagner” log stacker. His kids and grandkids loved taking rides and naps in the log stacker. He operated two Wagners over the next 32 years, until his retirement from Davidson Industries in 1991. Ron served as a volunteer and fire chief of Swisshome- Deawood RFPD for 50 years. The fire department was his passion. His dedication to the fire department and the com- munities it served was his top priority. Ron enjoyed hunting, fish- ing and especially camping with his family. He loved building things and working on the family property. Survivors include daugh- ters: Ronda Harris, Elaine Dotson (Terry) and Brenda Garner; a son, Richard Prindel; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nephews Craig and David Prindel; a niece, Patsey Whitely; and his life-long friends, Neil Harwood, and Bob and Alice Fulkner. Services will be held on Jan. 13, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Swisshome Evangelical Church in Swisshome with a reception to follow. The family wishes to thank the members of PeaceHealth Hospice for their kind atten- tion to Ron. Their help was greatly appreciated. Also, a special thank you to Byron Moore, Alice and Bob Fulkner, and Burns’s Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home. Burns's Riverside Chapel Florence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Inurnment will be later in the spring at Deadwood Pioneer Cemetery, where Ron and Barbara will be forever together. BARNEY—Larry Barney, 79, of Florence, passed away Dec. 17, 2017. He was born Feb. 19, 1938. Per his request, there will be no services.
