With 4:11 remaining in the third period, junior Erin Michael scored a short jumper for the Lady Sailors’ first basket of the quarter — and the last points of the period — leaving Mapleton trailing 11-36. The Lady Sailors’ defense held Reedsport to just 2 points in the fourth quarter, each off of free throws, with sophomore Heather McMaster-Willis Mapleton wrapped up a busy week on the hardwood last Friday, tipping off at home against Reedsport for the third home game in four days. It was the second time Mapleton had faced the Braves, with both Sailors teams falling to Reedsport on the road a week earlier. Freshman point guard Brea Blankenship was the spark plug firing Siuslaw’s offense, going 50 percent from the field (5-for-10), including a pair of timely 3-pointers and a total 13 points to lead scoring for Siuslaw. Blankenship was also the first to score in the game, sinking a short jumper for a 2-0 lead. A pair of hard- fought rebounds by junior Erin Reynolds extended the Lady Viks’ lead to 6-0 before Sweet Home scored its first basket. Sophomore post Mia Collins scored back-to-back buckets, first on a jumper then off a pass inside from Reynolds. Senior Correina Greenburg drove the ball to the arc then passed to Blankenship for an easy basket to end the period ahead 12-4. See LADY VIKS 4B Trout stocking is com- plete for the year. Cape Meares, Town, Coffenbury, Lost and Sunset lakes were stocked with “trophy” rain- bow trout in late September. Cedar Creek Hatchery has stocked over 160 sur- plus summer steelhead in Town Lake near Pacific City so far this fall. These fish get fairly active in the lake and offer a unique fishing experi- ence. Once in the lake they are considered “trout” and do not require a Combined Angling Tag. Anglers are reminded, however, that only one trout per day over 20-inch- es may be retained, and these fish will all be in that size range. MID COAST LAKES: Olalla Reservoir has been stocked with about 100 surplus summer steel- head this season. These fish get fairly active in the lake and offer a unique fishing experience.
