St. Mary’s Men’s Club donates Unitarians celebrate
Festival of Lights
to B&G Club program
On Sunday, Dec. 17, from
10 until 10 a.m. at the Florence
Unitarian
Universalist
Fellowship, Nin Bebeau and
Tuvia Chai will lead the wor-
ship service titled: “Festival of
Lights for Chanukah.”
Music, story and song will
be shared to celebrate the
Jewish festival of re-dedica-
tion, also known as the
Festival of Lights for the holi-
day of Chanukah.
Bebeau, a wonderful story-
teller, and Chai, a talented
musician, will lead the congre-
gation in this joyous event.
FUUF is located at 87738
Highway 101 at Heceta Beach
Road, and is wheelchair acces-
sible.
Each service concludes with
refreshments and a dialogue
circle to explore the questions
that come up during each serv-
ice.

Boys and Girls Club of Western Lane County Executive Director Jack Davis (left) accepts a
check for $300 from St. Mary’s Men’s Club Vice President Ron Caputo.
Last school year, through
elementary, teen, sports and
outreach programs, the local
Boys and Girls club reached
more than one in three Siuslaw
School District students.
The Boys & Girls Club of
Western
Lane
County
(BGCWLC) receives no finan-
cial aid from state or federal
governments and is supported
solely by community giving
and grant funding.
Nationally acclaimed pro-
grams like SMART Girls,
Passport to Manhood, Money
Matters and Positive Action
help club members gain self-
esteem, combat bullying,
improve grades and develop
healthy lifestyle choices while
feeling safe in a secure nurtur-
ing environment.
Recently, the St. Mary’s
Men’s Club showed its support
by donating $300 to the B&G
Club in an effort to help it con-
tinue its efforts for local youth.
New Life Lutheran will be
hosting its fourth annual Blue
Christmas Worship Service on
Thursday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. at
the church, located on 21st and
Spruce streets.
For many, Christmas is not
the most wonderful time of the
year. It is a time of busyness
and can be a time that feels
overwhelming.
This worship is a time for
remembering both persons and
events that have been part of
our lives in the past that are
now changed or gone.
Join New Life, in collabora-
tion with the United Methodist
Church, for a special Advent
service of quiet worship where
attendees will make time for
prayer, reflection, remember-
ing and preparing their hearts
for the coming of Christ.
A time of fellowship and
refreshment will follow.
