8 A SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 29, 2017 Yachats Ladies Club hosts 90th annual Christmas Bazaar The 90th annual Christmas Bazaar by the Yachats Ladies Club will be starting on Friday, Dec. 1, from noon to 6 p.m., continuing onto Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 2 and 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days at the Clubhouse, 286 W. Third and Pontiac streets in Yachats. Admission is free to this family-friendly event. This is the longest running holiday bazaar in Lincoln County and it affords the public an opportunity to support the local community and find won- derful and unusual hand made gift items at the same time. All items are handmade by club members. On Saturday only, lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and pie slices will be served all day. For the first time, whole homemade pies will be sold for Hurricane Relief. The Clubhouse will be decked out in cheery holiday finery and a huge variety of clever, beautiful and useful handmade items all made by club members will be offered. Find all kinds of knitted items from slippers to hats, scarves, sweaters and finger- less gloves; jewelry; journals; holiday decor including silk flower arrangements, orna- ments, Christmas aprons and place mats; beautiful and stur- dy tote bags; afghans; small quilts; cards and bookmarks; baby items including booties, hats and afghans; gifts for chil- dren; aprons for men and women in a variety of fabrics; casserole carriers; pet gifts including cat nip mice and doggie scarves and much more. Many of these items are exclusive to the Yachats Ladies Club. A wonderful selection of delightful edible goodies including candies, cakes, cook- ies and breads will also be sold. The Hurricane Relief Pie Fundraiser is a first for the Yachats Ladies Club. All money raised will go to organ- izations for hurricane victims. Whole Pies include a reusable pie tin and a reusable, lidded carrier. Limited num- bers are available in a variety of flavors. Come early for best selection. Club members will also offer their famous Gifts-On- The-Go Themed Gift Baskets filled with an interesting selec- tion of items presented in a container protected with cello- phane and tied up with a beau- tiful handmade bow for a rea- sonable price. A selection of baskets will be available featuring ideal gifts for adults and children. Pie will be served all day starting at 10 a.m. and coffee and tea will be offered. This is the last chance for the famous Yachats Ladies Club pie this year. To go boxes are available so you can eat some and take some for later. The 90th annual bazaar also features the option to donate to My Sisters’ Place, a safe haven for individuals escaping domestic violence. Yearly, The Yachats Ladies Club offers a handmade quilt to raise money for the Yachats Ladies Club Scholarship Fund. The beautiful queen-sized quilt is called “Star Bright” and fea- tures jewel tone batique fab- rics. It will be on display dur- ing the weekend. Tickets are $1 each and they will be sold until the drawing on Sunday at 2 p.m. The winner will be noti- fied by phone. In addition, employees are given paid time off to volun- teer for charities of their choice. They can also participate in a casual Friday fund by donating to a small pot of money, usually totaling between $200 to $400, which is given to a rotating group of local nonprofits and service organizations. “These policies have developed a strong culture of giving and involvement by everyone in the Oregon Pacific Bank family,” Green said. The most recent addition to the fundraising efforts undertaken by OPB is the creation of the Marteen Wick First Citizen Scholarship Fund.
