The library is pleased to present musicians David Helfand and Justin Lader on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. This will be an afternoon of vibrant, transcendental origi- nal music inspired by magical journeys and featuring music from their latest album, “Through the Portal.” Helfand and Lader, of Eugene, Ore., together have remarkable skills with the Celtic harp, octave mandolin, violin, viola, guitar, and key- boards. This concert is free and open to the public. Learn Excel Holiday closure Join library staff member Lynda Green for a basic class about Microsoft Excel, on Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in the library’s Bromley Room. This class is one of two Excel classes the library has been hosting each month. The first in the month is an open lab where patrons can In celebration of Thanksgiving, the library will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24. Lego Club Library seeks Art Committee members Siuslaw Public Library is seeking members to serve on the Library Art Committee. Anyone with an interest, back- ground or experience in the arts is welcome to apply to become a member. This is an opportunity to be involved in Florence’s flourishing art com- munity. The Siuslaw Public Library Art Committee meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at the main library in Florence, 1460 Ninth St. Members are appointed by the Library Board and serve a three-year term. The committee’s responsi- bilities include selecting art for display; soliciting displays for the various library galleries and displays; contacting artists to schedule displays; and working with artists in the installation and removal of dis- plays. Applications must be received by Saturday, Nov. 18. Applications as well as a complete description of the commitment are available at the Circulation Desk of the Siuslaw Public Library.
