Tuesday, Mapleton came out strong in search of its second win of the sea- son, taking a quick 11-5 lead that included aces from freshmen Trinity Peterson and Emily Stevens, as well as kills from junior Erin Michael. Michael went on to deliver a series of aces later in the game to give the Lady Sailors a 19-7 advantage that prompted an Eddyville timeout. From there, the Eagles rallied, clos- ing the gap to within four, 20-24, before the Lady Sailors were able to take the first set, 25-21. The Oregon Legislature approved the $2 increase as part of the 2017-19 Oregon Parks and Recreation Department budget. After a public comment period in August and September, the Oregon State Parks and Recreation Commission approved the rate increase at its September 2017 meeting. The rate for a typical full hookup RV site at the state’s most popular camp- grounds will rise to $30 per night, and basic yurts will go from $40 to $42. Rates will also rise by the same $2 amount for deluxe yurts, basic and deluxe cabins, electric sites, and hiker- biker camping areas. Tent camping rates, currently $17- $19 per night, will not change. More information is available at bit.ly/OregonStateParks rates. See CAMPING 3B MID COAST LAKES: Olalla Reservoir has been stocked with about 100 surplus summer steel- head from the Siletz Falls trap, this season. These fish get fairly active in the lake and offer a unique fishing experience. Once in the lake they are considered “trout” and do not require a Combined Angling Tag. Anglers are reminded, however, that only one trout per day over 20 inches may be retained, and these fish will almost all be in that size range. Mid Coast lakes been stocked with trout through- out the spring. Trout stock- ing is over until the fall but there still should be fish around to catch. Water temps are great and fish should be hungry. SIUSLAW RIVER: Chinook, trout Fall Chinook angling continues and fishing is picking up in tidewater. Trout season continues with some nice cutthroat around. Remember the limit on streams and rivers is two per day over 8-inch- es. Anglers are reminded the two-rod validation is only valid while angling in standing water bodies excluding coastal lakes with wild coho seasons. Two rods are prohibited on all coastal rivers, tide- water, estuaries and bays. ALSEA RIVER: Chinook, trout Fall Chinook ishing is starting to pick up in tide- water.
