York scored four consecu- tive points to tie the game at 13-13, with freshman Lindsey Long serving up an ace to give Siuslaw it’s first lead of the set and just one point away from the win — which York deliv- ered on a match-winning kill shot, 15-13. “When I saw Mak (York) go up for that kill shot, I knew it was over,” said Hornung. York finished the night with 27 kills, along with 10 kills from Mia Collins, 5 kills from Jordan Long and 3 kills from Richards, who also delivered a team-high 4 aces. Defensively, Lindsey Long had 4 digs, Jordan Long had 3 digs and senior libero Maci Wells had 2 digs. York had 4 blocks, and Siuslaw got 1 block each from senior Abby Coday, Mia Collins and Emma Collins. Today, the Lady Viks will compete at the Junction City Invitational before hosting Brookings-Harbor Tuesday and Douglas on Thursday. Both Far West League matches begin at 6:30 p.m. from 1B From there, the Lady Viks never looked back in the set, with York, Long and Mia Collins delivering the final shots for a 25-17 win that mir- rored the Lancers’ second-set win. In the fourth set, South Umpqua came out strong to take a quick 7-1 lead that appeared to spell trouble for Siuslaw. But once again, the Lady Viks rallied to tie the game at 13-13, with York pro- viding a thunderous kill for the first Siuslaw lead, 16-15. Siuslaw held the lead for the remainder of the set and a 25- 23 win to tie the match at two games each. In the final set, South Umpqua took an early 3-1 lead only to have kills from Long and York tie things up at 3-3. But the tie was short lived, with the Lady Lancers moving ahead by three points — a lead that they extended into a 12-6 advantage before a tip-kill from junior Alyssa Richards sparked the Lady Siuslaw sophomore outside hitter Mia Collins serves an ace against South Umpqua. Collins also scored 10 kills during Tuesday night’s 5-set win against the Lancers.
