SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2017 Chamber ‘After Hours’ to spotlight library resources Baha’i to discuss ‘living vital religion’ on Monday This Monday evening, Sep. 18, at 6:30 p.m., the communi- ty is invited to join a group of people interested in finding the common ground in diverse spiritual thoughts and paths. The group’s hope is to trust one’s own path enough to be open to the value of the thoughts and paths of others. The topic for Monday’s gathering is “Religion must be living, vitalized, moving and progressive.” Participants are asked to bring prayers, poems and writ- ing that support an aspect of the topic. 5 A When it comes to starting or running a successful business, or better management of a non- profit organization, the Siuslaw Public Library District, 1460 Ninth St., offers access to peo- ple and resources that can help. The Chamber After Hours will also be an opportunity to meet the Siuslaw community’s newest member, Outreach Librarian Erin Gordenier, who joined the library after nine years working in public infor- mation for the City of Beaverton. Come meet Gordenier, as well as other library staff, who can make starting or running a local business a little easier. The event will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. LDS Church to hold Wantz, French to lead FUUF sunday worship classes on New Testament Sally Wantz and Jennifer French will lead the Florence Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (FUUF) service this Sunday, Sept. 17, from 10 to 11 a.m. They will be taking part in the “This I Believe series,” which highlights the diversity of beliefs within the FUUF 240 HOURS The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS) will be holding classes on the New Testament, taught by for- mer adjunct professor of American History Joel Marks. This nine-class course will present each verse of the New Testament, including St. John and St. Matthew. The classes, which are free of charge and open to all church.
