It also addresses physical, psychosocial and spiritual aspects. It is the care that a patient receives when they don’t qualify for Home Health and are not ready for Hospice. On June 30, at 7 p.m., a spe- cial folk music concert spon- sored by Peace Harbor Medical Center and hosted at the Florence Events Center will raise funds for this unique pro- gram and its expansion of serv- ices beyond Florence and into Mapleton and the other up- river communities. To do this, philanthropy will be a major funding source due to the lack of reimbursements from most insurance providers as well as Medicare and Medicaid. The concert won’t be “sell- ing” tickets but will be request- ing a donation of at least $25 per person. Among those performing will be: Mike and Carleen McCornack: From Eugene, the duo has shared their musi- cal artistry with grateful audi- ences for more than four decades. From coffee houses to concert halls, the McCornacks’ beautifully crafted songwriting comes to life in their music with superb vocal harmony and sparkling guitar accompani- ment that touches the heart and never fails to tickle the funny bone. They are award-winning songwriters and two-time win- ners of the Florence Winter Folk Festival’s People's Choice Award. Kray Van Kirk: A singer- songwriter delivering perform- ances that the Borderline Folk Club in New York called “...what every singer-song- writer should aspire to,” his creative writing, guitar artistry and wonderful voice leaves audiences asking for more. His warm and intimate con- certs on six- and 12-string gui- tars have received critical praise from the house concert circuit to festivals and larger stages. He has just released his first The New Folksters: A group of folk singers from Eugene who combine wonder- ful harmony with hot instru- mentals. The group includes Hal Weiner (guitar, banjo, uke, vocals), Keith Barr (6- and -2 string guitar, vocals), and Beverly Schriver (kazoo, egg shaker, vocals). Their performances are fun and include 60s folk songs, contemporary folk tunes, rol- licking jugband and ragtime ditties. They have been com- pared to The Kingston Trio, The Limeliters and The Rooftop Singers. CD: The Road To Elfland. Hank Payne and Claire Favro: A delightful couple from Poulsbo, Wash., this tight-harmony duo (with gui- tars and bowed psaltery), per- form songs from all over the acoustic world. Their concerts are a mixture of pop, jazz, gospel and folk (original, tradi- tional, and/or contemporary) but always great harmonies and instrumentals. ...need a friend? Tuesday 6/20 MEET Rory Hello, my name is Rory! I am a very active young girl who loves to go out to the yard and have lots of fun either tugging or fetching. I also like to go for walks. I need someone to teach me my leash manners, I am still very young and have not yet been taught the basics a dog should be taught. I do have a dog friend. It can be diffi cult for other dogs to accept me, because my energy level can sometimes be overwhelming when meeting new dogs. I really need someone who is going to work with me on becoming the best dog I can be, and who will be my best friend forever! Any approved adopters that already have a dog in the home must bring their dog in for a quick meet and greet to make sure they will be a good match.
