The Friends of the Siuslaw
Library invite the public to
attend a retirement party in
honor of longtime librarian,
Linda Weight, on Saturday,
June 24, from 3:30 to 5:30
p.m., in the Bromley Room.
Refreshments will be pro-
vided. This event is free and
open to the public.
During her tenure, Weight
has worn many hats for the
Siuslaw Library District,
including LAN Administrator,
Vo l u n t e e r C o o r d i n a t o r ,
Collection Developer,
Cataloger and Reference
Librarian.
“Many of these vital skills
were acquired out of necessity,
and in response to the needs of
the district,” said Library
Director Meg Spencer.
In 2003, the Oregon Library
Association recognized Weight
with the Library Employee of
the Year award. Over her 31
years at the library, Weight has
seen the formation of the
Siuslaw Public Library District
and the addition of the
Mapleton branch and its serv-
ice area.
She is the only current staff
member to work in the
library’s former location inside
Florence City Hall.
“We hope that all communi-
ty members who know Linda
will stop in to say goodbye,”
said Spencer. “She will be
missed by staff, patrons, volun-
teers.”
